The AI Revolution: 5 Tools Shaping Content Creation

 Contrary to popular belief, some AI-powered tools are helping some creators spend less time on pesky tasks and more time doing what they love.

I test and evaluate a variety of "AI-powered tools" that are available for use in content production, solopreneurship, and content-driven business operations as part of my daily travels. I've been investigating the creator life for 15 years, working as a creator for 10 of those years, and embracing AI in all its forms for the past two years. Eventually, I got some time to think about the tools that I think are most useful.

AI has the power to fundamentally change how working professionals and creative conduct business and how their daily routines are carried out. While many tools and software programs make the claim to have AI-powered functionality, very few are actually built with AI at their core.

Here are some particular tools that my team and I have used and how they might benefit you as well.

No. 1: Otter

Otter converts spoken dialogue into text using artificial intelligence. It frees up media teams to concentrate on delivering stories instead of doing tedious chores like taking notes, transcribing, and creating action items. Otter may provide speaker bios, meeting summaries, and highlight important conversation topics in addition to audio-to-text.

We've saved countless hours in the production of the Feisworld Podcast because to Otter. We meticulously recorded, revised, and released show notes and transcripts for over 350 episodes. It took a lot of work, but it was also really satisfying.

Without having to spend days going over long notes, Otter has been essential in helping me rapidly understand the main points of our chats.

No. 2: Fathom

Like Otter, Fathom is an AI-powered meeting assistant created to streamline note-taking and follow-ups for online meetings. I love that it integrates with all the major videoconferencing platforms, including Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

Within 30 seconds of the meeting ending (almost instantly!), Fathom provides a concise summary with key points, action items and highlighted discussion topics. Descript was the first tool I remember that truly wowed me back when I was initially skeptical about AI. Descript's cloud-based video editor was designed to streamline the postproduction process, particularly for creators working solo or in small teams, and it does an excellent job.

Descript uses a text-based approach. It transcribes the audio from your video clip and then edits the video by manipulating the text. This is a huge time-saver, especially for tasks such as cutting out unwanted sections or rearranging the order of your content.

In addition to video editing, Descript deeply integrates AI into audio production, offering tools such as Overdub to clone a real voice and make spoken corrections without the need to rerecord. This speeds up the production process and enhances the audio quality, enabling podcasters, YouTubers and livestreamers to achieve studio-grade results no matter where they are. 

Descript's latest release includes an AI feature called "Underlord," intended to be the opposite of an overlord. Underlord helps you automate editing drudgery so you can focus on the creative work that truly matters. AI-generated clips are now part of Descript as well. 

No. 4: Swell AI
